A fall-blooming, biannual wildlflower. It does well in "rougher" sites, and even prefer's sandier soil's. Not only is it easy to grow, but the yellow blooms are loved by pollinaters. The plant itself is a host plant for the Primrose Moth, a small, ruby red/pink moth. This flower, as the name suggests, opens in the evening and stays as such throughout the night; which is invaluable for nocturnal pollinators!
